If you are looking for a powerful, sophisticated, and spacious SUV with seating for up to seven passengers inside, you cannot beat the 2024 Ford Explorer. Interior Space and Design
For many drivers, a small crossover SUV is an excellent option since they are looking for something compact that they can easily fit into a downsized lifestyle or just for driving on their own. But if you have a big family, then you already know that such a vehicle is not going to meet your particular needs. That is when a larger model like the Ford Explorer comes into play; this being said, not all such models are made equal, and there are a number of things that set the Explorer ahead of the pack.
A Spectacular Interior
To begin with, the interior of the 2024 Ford Explorer is beautifully designed and laid out to be functional and comfortable. This is a three-row SUV that gives you plenty of room inside for your passengers, so you can bring up to six other people along with you. And yet, the interior is nice and large, so everyone has room to stretch out: you get more than 40 inches of front-row headroom and 43 inches of legroom up front, as well. Your second-row passengers also have more than 40 inches of headroom and almost 40 inches of legroom, while folks in the third row get about 39 inches of headroom and more than 32 inches of legroom. Kids will be more comfortable in the way-back than adults, but you still get plenty of space for everyone.
Altogether, the Explorer gives you more than 152 cu.ft. of total passenger volume, which is a tremendous amount of room. You also get lots of space to load up with all of the things you need to bring along with you, including more than 18 cu.ft. of rear cargo volume behind the back seats. With the rear seats down, you get about 48 cu.ft. of cargo space behind the second row of seats, and you have more than 87 cu.ft. of total cargo volume behind the front seats. And if you need to haul even more stuff with you, you can take advantage of the 5,300 lbs of towing capacity the Explorer offers.
Comfort and Tech Features
Although we tend to look at safety features as the most important ones in any vehicle, the comfort and technology inside come a close second. In fact, when we ask people about things they wish they had chosen for their previous vehicles, features like extra comfort or better speakers are some of the most common answers we hear. Do not underestimate the importance of enjoying yourself behind the wheel each time you hit the road, which becomes a lot easier if you have the great comfort and tech features inside the Ford Explorer.
What Is Included?
The standard model starts with terrific features, including tri-zone electronic automatic temperature control with rear auxiliary climate control to keep everyone inside nice and comfy. Comfortable cloth seating is standard, with a second-row bench seat and an eight-way power driver's seat for added comfort to make your life easier. You get a standard eight-inch Infotainment display in the 2024 Explorer, as well as a 4.2-inch productivity screen in the instrument panel cluster.
If you want more advanced features, then take a look at a higher trim level like the Platinum, which is the pinnacle option for the Explorer. The Platinum comes with a 10-way power driver's seat, an eight-way power front passenger seat, and heated and ventilated front seats that are perfect for cold winter mornings. You get leather seating surfaces with tri-diamond perforated inserts in the Platinum, plus a pair of captain's seats in the second row for added comfort. The Ford Explorer Platinum comes with a 10.1-inch Infotainment display with a 6.5-inch productivity screen in the instrument panel and a 12-speaker B&O sound system with a subwoofer. To take things even further, you can get an available 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, a twin-panel moonroof for an incredible overall driving experience, and much more.

That means even if you go with the starting Ford Explorer model, you get terrific driver assistance technology such as Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, which scans the road ahead of you and warns you about a potential collision, then provides you with extra braking power to avoid a crash. You also get Ford's BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, which can detect vehicles in your blind spot, warn you about them, and detect traffic about to pass behind you while you are in reverse. The Explorer comes with Auto High-Beam Headlamps that sense low lighting and come on automatically. They also dim automatically when oncoming traffic is detected to avoid blinding other drivers.
If you want to take your safety even further, additional technology and features are available to elevate your driving experience. For example, you can get available Active Park Assist 2.0 technology, which makes it easy to get into and out of tight parking spaces-both parallel and perpendicular parking. Standard Rear Parking Sensors warn you when you are backing up and come close to an object, while available Post-Collision Braking applies moderate brake pressure for you if a collision is detected. All of this comes together to create an SUV that is incredibly safe and secure, ensuring you and your family get home safely every time you get behind the wheel and head out on the road.
