Full-size trucks like the best-selling Ford F-150 deserve the spotlight because they embody the “Built Ford Tough” motto, rightly earning their place as one of many popular Ford trucks for sale around the country. However, midsize workhorses like the Ranger are stealing some of that spotlight, especially the 2024 Ranger, which introduces an all-new design and more capability, connectivity, and innovation than ever. The 2024 Ranger is a history-making road warrior destined to impress, but what does that mean for our customers?

As your Ford authority, Kate Faupel Ford is here to dish out the details on the 2024 Ranger and the many ways Ford improved this already impressive midsize truck. From a new look to an expanded powertrain lineup and the Raptor treatment, the 2024 Ranger looks to be the perfect truck in its class. Here’s a closer look at those details and everything else that makes it one of the most highly anticipated trucks of 2024.

1 – Built Ford Tough to Its Core

The 2024 Ranger is redesigned to answer the growing need for an adventure-ready road warrior. Ford listened intently to its customers, designing the Ranger to withstand the elements without missing a beat. We see this in the 2024 Ranger’s strengthened, fully-boxed steel frame, longer wheelbase, and extended track. The Ranger’s growth improves its stability on technical terrain but also yields more space in the bed. The combination heightens its versatility as a well-rounded workhorse that can handle your weekday commute, tow heavy loads, and navigate adventures off the pavement without compromise.

2 – More Powerful and Capable

The Ranger is renowned for its standard EcoBoost power plant, and Ford didn’t change that for the 2024 model. The new truck rolls off the production line with the proven 2.3L EcoBoost under its hood and a class-exclusive 10-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox. The pairing is exceptional, with the transmission offering seamless gear changes as the engine produces 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. This output is enough to give the Ranger the brute strength to tow up to 7,500 lbs or support a maximum payload of 1,805 lbs.

While the standard 2.3L is impressive and makes the Ranger agile and engaging to drive, Ford sweetens the 2024 model by introducing a more potent optional engine. The 2.7L EcoBoost V6 joins the Ranger’s powertrain lineup for the first time this year but isn’t a new addition for Ford since it’s a staple on the F-150 and Bronco. The bigger engine yields more power, with the V6 churning out 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque for an exceptional experience behind the wheel of this midsize powerhouse.

3 – A More Versatile and Functional Interior

Ford does something incredible with the 2024 Ranger by redesigning the interior to make it more spacious and accommodating for passengers and cargo. For example, stretching the Ranger’s wheelbase and track offers more room for cargo in the bed but also enlarges the cabin. Ford redesigned the second row to include functional under-seat cargo bins and added flat-folding rear seatbacks, making loading and accessing larger items easier. These small improvements pack a big punch and make the Ranger more functional and versatile, whether hauling work equipment in the bed or taking the family for a weekend getaway.

4 – Tech-Savvy in the Best Ways

One of the most significant additions to the Ranger’s new interior is its modern cockpit, replete with cutting-edge technology. From the driver’s seat, you have access to a standard eight-inch digital instrument cluster or an optional 12.4-inch full-screen cluster that gives you vital information like speed, mileage, trip logs, and more. Ford complements this display with a standard 10.1-inch or optional 12-inch center touchscreen display with the SYNC 4A infotainment system. The layout is incredible because it’s a vertical display that’s more intuitive, optimizing your experience and keeping you connected as you navigate the road.

5 – Adventure-Oriented Details

As a midsize truck, the 2024 Ranger is the perfect companion for your next adventure because it’s easy to maneuver and incredibly capable on any terrain. Fortunately, Ford doesn’t stop there, realizing the key to building a versatile workhorse is in the details. We see this in the Ranger’s all-new Zone Lighting and integrated bed lighting that you can control from the Ranger’s center display or the FordPass app. With Zone Lighting, you can easily see your surroundings, whether unloading work equipment after dark or setting up camp for a weekend in the woods with friends.

6 – It Lessens the Learning Curve When Towing

Towing shouldn’t be a major headache; fortunately, Ford agrees. The 2024 Ranger features more towing technology than ever, including class-exclusive tools like Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance. The Ranger’s expansive center display is a hub of connectivity, but it’s also home to tech-savvy tools that use the truck’s expansive camera system to give you a comprehensive view of your surroundings as you navigate your trailer in reverse. Moreover, it provides real-time suggestions as you maneuver your rig to its destination.

7 – A Simpler and Stronger Lineup

Ford shows us that less is more with the 2024 Ranger by having it come standard as a crew cab model with four full-size doors. Where other automakers water down their lineups with numerous trims and configurations, Ford recognizes what works and sets drivers up for immediate success. Other additions, like the Integrated Box Side Step beside the rear tires and the 400-watt power inverter in the bed, are icing on the cake and let you tailor the truck to your specific needs.

8 – It Prioritizes Your Safety

Ford never forgets who’s in the driver’s seat, prioritizing your safety during every part of the design process for the 2024 Ranger. It’s apparent in the truck’s high-strength steel frame and 31 standard and available driver-assist tools, a class-leading number that gives the Ranger an edge over the competition. These tools include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, which improves your time on the highway by automatically adjusting the Ranger’s cruising speed based on the traffic. Class-exclusive features like Active Park Assist 2.0 are also noteworthy, helping you find the perfect parking spot and steering the Ranger into that spot with minimal driver input. It’s transformative technology in the best ways.

9 – The Raptor Treatment

When you thought the Ranger couldn’t get any better, Ford outdoes itself with the 2024 Ranger Raptor. This new variant debuts as the most powerful, off-road capable Ranger in history, thanks to the ingenuity of the Ford Performance engineers. It’s the perfect embodiment of adventure, rolling off the production line with class-exclusive 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve shocks, a Watts link rear suspension, skid plates, and 33-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain KO3 tires. Its heartbeat is even more impressive, with Ford pairing the class-exclusive 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with a twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6 that produces a best-in-class 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than enough power wherever the road or trail takes you.

10 – A Ticket to the Ford Legacy

One of the many perks of investing in a truck like the 2024 Ranger is joining the Ford legacy. Henry Ford helped put the world on wheels with the Model T, forever changing how we travel. The new Ranger continues his vision and expands his legacy by showcasing the company’s dedication to never losing sight of what truly matters–meeting the needs and exceeding the expectations of those in the driver’s seat.
