In its 60-year legacy, the Mustang has established its place as a performance car practically unequaled in automotive history. The 2024 Ford Mustang is no different, from its sleek design to its choice of three different high-performance engines. This is the start of the seventh generation of the Mustang, and in many ways, it may be the best. One reason for this is that the Mustang is affordably priced and has many features that make it a great ride for commuters and other daily drivers, as well as performance enthusiasts.
If you are like most folks who need a car to drive every day, then you are going to be concerned about things like performance, fuel economy, connectivity, and safety. The Mustang delivers each of these in a design that you will be proud to be seen driving around in. Here at Kate Faupel Ford, we are proud to offer our customers the 2024 Mustang and can’t wait to show off its new features. Come in today and see why you should make your next car a Mustang.
High Performance Without Compromising Fuel Economy
Ford offers the 2024 Mustang with two different body styles and six different trim levels. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all Mustang models. The Fastback models are hardtop coupes, while Convertible Mustangs allow you to ride with the wind blowing through your hair. The six different trims can be broken down into three categories. The EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium feature a turbocharged EcoBoost engine, the GT and GT Premium come with a 5.0L V8 engine, and the Dark Horse and Dark Horse Premium have a more powerful version of the V8 engine from the GT trims. Ford lets you get the EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, and GT Premium as either a Fastback or Convertible, while the other three trims are a Fastback design only.
For most commuters, a 2024 Mustang EcoBoost or EcoBoost Premium will probably make the most sense. These trims come with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged I-4 gas engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine uses a twin-scroll turbocharger to boost performance. Its dual overhead camshaft design provides four valves per cylinder. Like all of the other Mustang engines, the 2.3L EcoBoost uses a combination of port fuel and direct injection, providing 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
The Mustang GT and Dark Horse feature different versions of the same 5.0L V8 gas engine that is nicknamed the Coyote. Drivers get a choice of a 10-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission with a rev-matching feature. This engine also has a dual overhead camshaft design with four valves for each of its eight cylinders. The GT version delivers up to 486 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque, while the Dark Horse provides a very impressive 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque.
The EcoBoost provides the best fuel economy of the three engines. You will get an EPA-estimated 26 MPG combined, with 33 MPG on the highway. In comparison, the GT trims get an estimated 18 MPG combined with the automatic transmission, while the Dark Horse is rated for 17 MPG combined. However, the GT will get you from zero to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, while Dark Horse can get to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 166 mph. Nevertheless, for a daily driver, the Mustang EcoBoost should be sufficient.

Safety Comes Standard With the Mustang
One thing most daily drivers want to know is that they are driving a safe car. This doesn’t just mean that it handles well and has passive safety devices like airbags. They also need to know that the vehicle is equipped with advanced driver assistance features that will work with them to help avoid a collision in the first place. Ford understands this, which is why every 2024 Mustang model comes equipped with standard Ford Co-Pilot360 advanced safety technology.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is a suite of standard and available features that will make driving your Mustang safer, allowing you to avoid accidents. Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking will let you know if you are getting too close to the vehicle in front of you. If the other vehicle stops short, the system will engage the Automatic Emergency Braking feature to help you avoid a crash. This even works at lower speeds with Pedestrian Detection, so you can avoid striking someone who accidentally steps off the curb in the path of your Mustang.
A great deal of highway accidents happen when a driver moves out of their lane. The Mustang has two features to help you avoid these types of collisions. If you get distracted for even a moment, you may begin to drift into an adjacent lane. The Lane-Keeping System will alert you to this and then use slight steering adjustments to get you back on the straight and narrow. Meanwhile, if you need to change lanes, the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) will let you know if there are any vehicles that may be in your path.
BLIS can also help you when backing out of a spot. The Rear View Camera will show you what is behind your Mustang, but if another vehicle or pedestrian crosses your path, you may not see them until it is too late. This is why BLIS includes Cross-Traffic Alert. If the system senses another vehicle about to cross your path, it will alert you so you can bring your Mustang to a safe stop and avoid an accident.
Driving at night or in inclement weather presents its own risks and hazards. The low light and precipitation can be very distracting. Fortunately, Auto High Beams will turn on your high beam headlights automatically in low light. The system will then turn them off if it detects another motorist to avoid distracting the other driver. The headlamps also have an AutoLamp feature to turn them on and off so you can focus on your driving. Finally, the Rain-Sensing Wipers will turn your Mustang’s wipers on when it rains or snows and adjust their speed if the precipitation increases.
Stay Entertained and Connected in Your Mustang
Commuting and daily driving can often feel like a bit of drudgery. This is especially true if you are driving in heavy traffic during rush hour. You want to stay connected and be entertained. The standard SYNC 4 technology in the 2024 Mustang makes that easy. This features an easy-to-use 13.2-inch central touchscreen, which will make scrolling through the features easier than ever. You can connect your smartphones using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, so you can make hands-free calls and texts. The Mustang comes with a standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, so you and your passengers can stay connected wherever you go.
The EcoBoost and GT trims have a standard six-speaker sound system, with an available nine-speaker system. You can make your own soundtrack to stream over the SYNC 4 system. If you are a true audiophile, then you may want to upgrade to the higher trims with their B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen, one of the leading audio system companies in the business today. This consists of 12 speakers and will make your favorite music sound better than ever.
